Have you ever felt like your heart and God are in separate rooms of the same house? I felt that way for years. What finally helped me wasn’t praying more or reading longer devotionals. It was just ten quiet minutes, twice a day, listening to someone else guide me. That’s the thing about everyday faith stories — they’re rarely dramatic. Sometimes they’re just ten quiet minutes, twice a day.
I’m talking about guided Christian meditation. My favorite is Christ Centered Tribe on YouTube. If you haven’t tried it, this is honestly the easiest habit I’ve picked up in years, and it’s the only one that really lasted.
Morning
As soon as I wake up, I start this meditation (Morning Kickstart: 5-Minute Guided Meditation to Begin Your Day). I put in my AirPods Pro 3 and press play before I even get out of bed. It brings me confidence and helps me set the tone before the day takes over.
Evening
Right before I go to sleep, I listen to this meditation ( God is With You as You Sleep – Bedtime Prayer & Meditation). It is great for processing my day and focusing on gratitude. And has become as routine as brushing my teeth.
At night, I don’t use AirPods. Instead, I use the Soundcore Sleep A30 Special earbuds by Anker. I really like them. If you want to try them, make sure to get the A30 Special, not the regular A30. Only the Special version is made for sleeping.
I liked these earbuds enough to write a full review — if you want the details, check it out here: The Best Sleep Ear Buds (Especially for Side Sleepers).
Here’s what makes it work for me: I start the meditation over Bluetooth, then double-tap the left earbud to switch to local mode. In local playback, these earbuds last over eight hours, so I can fall asleep with the meditation playing and not worry about the battery.
Here’s a tip: consider getting a YouTube Premium account. Ads in the middle of a guided meditation can really ruin the mood.
Bottom Line: Everyday Faith Stories
This really works. Beginning and ending my day focused on Jesus instead of my phone has changed my outlook more than anything else I’ve tried. It’s proof that everyday faith stories don’t need a dramatic turning point — just a simple habit, repeated. It’s simple, not costly except for a good pair of earbuds, and ‘Be still, and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10)’ feels much easier to live out when someone else’s voice is guiding you.
If habits like this speak to you, subscribe here — pick Faith, Wellness, or any categories you want, and I’ll send just those.
If you want to give this a try, just start with the two videos above. That’s really all there is to it. I’d love to hear your everyday faith stories too. How do you keep your heart close to God during the day? I’d love to know.
